New funding from the Scottish Government and Spirit of 2012 has been announced to increase the number of women and girls in Scotland who participate in sport and physical activity. From the Spirit of 2012 website:
The Fund will support no fewer than 12 projects targeting women and girls who want to become more active through sport.
Their preference will be for applications from women’s community-based organisations in partnership with a local or national sports-based organisation (including dance or other association whose primary purpose is to encourage physical activity).
They will ask projects to report on 4 outcomes that are core to the Sporting Equality Fund:
1. More women and girls participate in sport and physical activity
2. People’s personal wellbeing increases through participation (in sport and physical activity)
3. We encourage and enable the inactive to be more active
4. We encourage and enable the inactive to stay active throughout life.
Deadline for the completed application form is 5pm on Friday 15 September.
The form will need to be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
